About the Position
Parker Core Knowledge (PCK) is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered part-time School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of approximately 700 students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The School Nurse provides professional nursing oversight and consultation for school health services, ensuring compliance with state and local health requirements and coordinated care for students with acute and chronic health needs. The School Nurse serves as the clinical resource for the school's Health Assistant while partnering with families, healthcare providers, and school staff to support student learning, attendance, and well-being.
This position primarily supports students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Responsibilities may also include supporting the preschool program, provided the successful candidate possesses all required state licensing and certification requirements for early childhood health services.

School Nurse Consultant
Reports To: School Director
- Primary Function: Support the health, safety, and well-being of all PCK students.
- Hours: Approximately 10 hours/week
Start Date: Anticipated August 10, 2026
- Anticipated Pay Rate: $38.00-$50.00/hour

Schedule
This is a part-time position requiring
- Approximately 6 hours on Thursdays during the regular school day.
- An estimated 2-4 additional flexible hours per week for care planning, documentation, consultation, follow-up, and other nursing responsibilities.
- Availability by phone or electronic communication during the school day to provide timely consultation and clinical guidance to the school's Health Assistant regarding student illnesses, injuries, medications, care plans, emergency response, and other nursing matters.

Requirements
- Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Special Services Provider (SSP) License with a School Nurse endorsement.
- Current Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Experience in pediatric, school, public health, emergency, or community nursing preferred.
- Knowledge of the Colorado Nurse Practice Act, school nursing standards, medication administration requirements, and Colorado school health regulations.
- Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently while serving as a collaborative resource to school staff.
- Proficiency with electronic health records and technology.
- Candidates supporting the preschool program must also meet all applicable Colorado licensing and health requirements for early childhood programs.

Essential Duties
- Provide professional nursing oversight for student health services.
- Serve as the clinical resource and consultant for the school's Health Assistant.
- Assess and respond to student health concerns, illnesses, injuries, and emergencies.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans, Emergency Care Plans, and medication management plans.
- Review healthcare provider orders and delegate nursing tasks in accordance with the Colorado Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide consultation regarding communicable disease management, student accommodations, chronic health conditions, and emergency preparedness.
- Administer medications and medical treatments as needed in accordance with healthcare provider orders, school policy, and state law.
- Maintain accurate student health records and ensure compliance with PCK, Douglas County School District (DCSD), Colorado Department of Education, Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment, and other applicable federal, state, and local health requirements.
Serve as the primary liaison for school health services with DCSD, coordinating required reporting, health initiatives, compliance activities, and communication while collaborating with families, healthcare providers, administrators, teachers, counselors, and special education staff to support student health and academic success.
- Coordinate required health screenings and promote health education and wellness initiatives.
- Promote a safe and healthy school environment through prevention, education, and proactive health management.
- Build trusting relationships with students and families by providing compassionate care, clear communication, and guidance that supports student health, attendance, and academic success.
- Maintain confidentiality of student health information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support student health services and school operations.

Anticipated Salary and Benefits
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $38.00-$50.00/hour depending on experience and skill level.
PCK employees participate in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) defined benefit plan and part-time employees are eligible for the employee assistance plan and paid HFWA (sick) leave.
