ABOUT THE ROLE

Artelia Airports is seeking a motivated UAE National ICT & Airport Systems Engineer to join the Design Team and support the delivery of airport, aviation, building and infrastructure projects. The role will assist senior engineers in the design, coordination, and documentation of ICT, ELV, airport operational systems, smart airport technologies, and digital infrastructure, ensuring compliance with project requirements, applicable codes, UAE regulations, cybersecurity requirements, quality objectives, and project schedules.

The ICT & Airport Systems Engineer will report to the Lead Engineer ICT/SAS and will work in coordination with other team members such as:

  • Client representatives, airport operators, stakeholders and relevant authorities under the supervision of senior team members.
  • Cost Managers / Quantity Surveyors, Planners and Contract Administrators for ICT and airport systems packages.
  • Telecommunication service providers, utility authorities and airport IT and operations departments.
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) representatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design delivery

  • Be an active member of the design team in the delivery of airport and infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and construction documentation stages.
  • Assist in the design and coordination of ICT, ELV and airport systems infrastructure, including structured cabling, fibre networks, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, data centres and command/control facilities.
  • Prepare and support system narratives, block diagrams, specifications, drawings, schedules, technical reports and tender documentation.
  • Support senior engineers in ensuring compliance with ICAO, IATA, ACI, GCAA, UAE cybersecurity, UAE Fire Code, local authority and airport operator requirements.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, interface coordination workshops and stakeholder meetings.
  • Assist in integrating ICT and Airport Systems within BIM models, federated coordination environments and CDE platforms.
  • Support authority submissions, employer requirements, technical schedules and technical evaluation inputs.
  • Coordinate typical airport systems including AODB, FIDS, CUTE/CUPPS, CUSS, self-bag drop and BHS/BRS interfaces, e-Gates and biometric passenger processing, RMS, A-CDM interfaces, PAVA, CCTV, ACS, PIDS, BMS, IoT and passenger experience technologies, together with their integration requirements and data exchange with the airport operational network.
  • Participate in internal quality reviews and verify outputs generated with digital and AI-assisted engineering tools.
  • Assist in resolving design coordination issues with other disciplines, vendors and specialist consultants.
  • Develop ICT technical spaces and rooms — main and secondary equipment rooms, telecom rooms (MDF/IDF), data centres and control rooms — including space planning, rack layouts, power and UPS, cooling, earthing and bonding, fire protection and access control requirements, in coordination with the electrical, mechanical and architectural disciplines.
  • Prepare ICT containment and pathway design, including risers, cable trays, conduits, external duct banks, chambers and building entry points, and coordinate telecommunication service provider requirements and lead-in routes.
  • Prepare power demand, heat load, rack elevation and capacity schedules for ICT and airport systems equipment, and issue these as coordinated inputs to the electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Support the development of network architecture documentation, including topology and redundancy concepts, IP and VLAN segmentation, IT / OT separation, and interfaces between airport operational, corporate, airline, ground handler and tenant networks.
  • Prepare and maintain system interface matrices, integration schedules and scope-split / responsibility matrices between ICT, airport systems, MEP, security, baggage handling and specialist packages.
  • Support the definition of Master Systems Integrator (MSI) scope, integration platform requirements and middleware / data exchange standards, where applicable to the project.
  • Assist in developing testing, commissioning and acceptance requirements (FAT, SAT, SIT) and support ORAT and operational readiness requirements, systems migration requirements and transition planning.
  • Support asset information requirements, equipment tagging and naming conventions, and the alignment of ICT and airport systems asset data with the project information management process (ISO 19650).
  • Consider lifecycle, obsolescence, maintainability, spares and warranty requirements in the development of ICT and airport systems solutions.
  • Assist in quantity take-off, Bill of Quantities preparation, cost input and value engineering for ICT and airport systems packages.
  • Support the review of contractor and vendor submittals, technical queries, method statements and shop drawings during tender and construction stages.
  • Support cybersecurity-by-design activities, including network segmentation, secure remote access, hardening requirements and compliance with UAE Information Assurance and GCAA civil aviation cybersecurity requirements.

Documentation

  • Prepare project deliverables in accordance with Company, Client, Airport Operator and authority standards.
  • Maintain proper records of calculations, reports, drawings, specifications, interface registers and correspondence.
  • Ensure project documentation is updated and archived in accordance with quality procedures, document control requirements and CDE workflows.
  • Follow Company quality management, information security, cybersecurity and document control requirements.
  • Maintain the ICT and airport systems deliverable and drawing registers, revision control and issue status in line with the project CDE and document control procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain technical query, RFI and interface action logs, and record minutes of technical coordination meetings.

Coordination

  • Coordinate assigned activities with architectural, structural, MEP, civil, infrastructure, airport planning and specialist systems disciplines.
  • Support coordination with sub-consultants, technology vendors, airport operators and system integrators where required.
  • Liaise with BIM and digital teams to ensure consistency between engineering documentation, models and asset information requirements.
  • Assist senior engineers during stakeholder reviews, authority reviews, cybersecurity workshops and airport technology integration meetings.
  • Support interface management with the airport operator IT and operations departments, airlines, ground handlers, concessionaires and tenant fit-out teams.
  • Coordinate ICT and airport systems scope splits with contractor-designed portions, specialist subcontractors and framework technology suppliers.
  • Coordinate with the civil and infrastructure teams on external telecom routes, duct banks, chambers and utility crossings, and with airside / landside planning on the location of field devices and equipment.
  • Participate in federated model reviews and clash detection sessions with the BIM team, and track resulting coordination actions to closure.
  • Support coordination with the security consultant and airport operator on the interface between security systems, access control zoning and airport operational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Between 2 and 5 years of professional experience in ICT, ELV, airport systems, telecommunications, electronic systems or smart infrastructure engineering; airport, transportation or large infrastructure experience would be an advantage.
  • Bachelor Degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, ICT Engineering or equivalent with mandatory equivalency from the Ministry of Education where applicable.
  • Good understanding of ICT, ELV and airport technology systems, including structured cabling, fibre optics, network architecture, wireless systems, server rooms and system integration principles.
  • Basic knowledge of UAE statutory authority requirements, airport operator technical standards and submission procedures.
  • Familiarity with the latest applicable / project-adopted ICAO, IATA ADRM, ACI, GCAA civil aviation cybersecurity guidance, UAE Information Assurance requirements, UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, NFPA 72, TIA-568, TIA-942, BICSI, ISO 19650 and ISO/IEC 27001 would be an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of airport operational processes, passenger processing systems, smart airport platforms, IoT, data analytics, cloud-enabled technologies and cybersecurity-by-design principles.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); awareness of BIM coordination workflows and the ISO 19650 information management process. Exposure to Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360 would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of airport systems design tools, network planning tools, data centre design principles, digital engineering platforms and CDE workflows would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools, automation platforms and data analytics for design support, QA/QC, document review and project delivery, with the ability to verify outputs and maintain engineering accountability.
  • Ability to prepare and check basic engineering calculations, including cable schedules and route lengths, fibre optic link budgets, bandwidth and capacity estimates, power and heat load calculations and UPS autonomy.
  • Experience preparing technical specifications, Bills of Quantities and tender documentation, and reviewing contractor and vendor submittals, would be an advantage.
  • Exposure to testing, commissioning and integration activities (FAT, SAT, SIT) and to ORAT or operational readiness processes would be an advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as CCNA, BICSI (RCDD or Technician), data centre certifications (CDCP, Uptime Institute) or recognised vendor certifications in airport systems platforms would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication, coordination and report-writing skills in English.
  • Arabic (native or fluent) in addition to English, for liaison with UAE authorities, airport operators and local stakeholders.
  • Valid UAE driving licence, and willingness to undertake site visits and occasional travel to project locations within the UAE and internationally.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn emerging airport technologies, digital solutions and regulatory requirements.
  • UAE National, holder of a valid Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid) and Emirates ID; registration on the Nafis platform will be required.
