IBM Storage Protect (TSM) Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Backup Expert / Senior Storage Administrator to join a global infrastructure team responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, and recoverability of enterprise data across a multi-site environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing backup operations, recovery procedures, storage resources, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support enterprise backup and recovery platforms across a 3-site environment. 
• Manage approximately 10 IBM Storage Protect (TSM) servers in production. 
• Ensure successful backup, restore, archive, and recovery operations.
• Manage storage pools, retention policies, and backup infrastructure health monitoring.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex backup and storage-related issues. 
• Create and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
• Propose and implement platform improvements and automation initiatives. 
• Collaborate closely with Infrastructure teams (Network, Wintel, Security) and Database Administration teams.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar Backup or Storage Administration role. 
• Strong expertise in IBM Storage Protect (formerly IBM Tivoli Storage Manager - TSM) .
• Proven experience administering Storage Protect environments on AIX and Linux (version 8+). 
• Advanced knowledge of TSM DB2 databases, administration, and recovery procedures.
• Hands-on experience with Storage Protect for VMware / Virtual Environments .
• Strong understanding of backup protocols such as S3 and NDMP .
• Scripting skills in Shell (Bash/KSH), Python, and SQL.
• Experience with RMAN and TDP . 
• Professional English level (B2-C1).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with enterprise storage solutions from IBM, Dell, or Hitachi .
• Knowledge of IBM Power Systems (AIX/Linux on Power) .
• Familiarity with ITIL processes , including Incident and Change Management.

 

While IBM Storage Protect / TSM remains the primary and preferred technology , the client is also open to reviewing candidates with strong experience in Commvault and enterprise backup administration.
