Job Type: Full-Time Direct Hire

Starting Salary: $60,000/year (higher compensation available based on experience)

Position Summary

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development and improvement of power protection and power distribution equipment. This role will contribute to mechanical design, documentation, prototyping, and product enhancement activities while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and service teams.

The ideal candidate has experience with mechanical design, CAD modeling, and product development in a manufacturing environment and is comfortable managing projects while working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs and engineering documentation for power protection products, including switchboards, Power Distribution Units (PDUs), and power panels.
  • Create and release mechanical designs that meet product requirements, manufacturing needs, and customer expectations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, supply chain, service, and other teams to support successful product development.
  • Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and improvement discussions.
  • Design and support mechanical prototypes, including fabrication coordination and post-build improvements.
  • Lead smaller engineering projects independently by organizing tasks, schedules, and technical deliverables.
  • Support product customization, engineering change notices (ECN), lifecycle management, and product optimization efforts.
  • Assist with developing solutions that improve product performance, manufacturability, and reliability.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience creating mechanical designs, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with power protection equipment and data center applications.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, including UL and IEC requirements.
  • 2+ years of experience using SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Experience performing thermal and structural evaluations.
  • Experience with PLM software.
  • Knowledge of sheet metal design, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Experience designing test fixtures and supporting product testing.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Experience with:
  • Switchboards
  • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
  • UL 891 equipment
  • UL 508 panels
