About The Role

*Must be located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This position is on-site*

As a Network Engineer II, you will be involved in designing, implementing, and maintaining FiberLight’s network infrastructure, working collaboratively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams. You will ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our network while gaining exposure to advanced routing protocols, network automation, and Layer 2 technologies. This role provides opportunities to take on increasing responsibility in telecommunications engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and management of network infrastructures.
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
  • Develop and maintain network automation scripts using Python and Ansible.
  • Use GitHub for version control and collaboration on network automation projects.
  • Conduct network performance analysis and implement optimizations.
  • Ensure network security and adherence to industry standards and compliance.
  • Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers on technical tasks.
  • Help document network configurations, procedures, and basic designs.

Requirements

  • 5 years of relevant experience in networking or telecommunications.
  • Solid experience with BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocols.
  • Proficiency in Python and Ansible for network automation.
  • Experience with GitHub for version control and collaboration.
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 networking technologies, including MPLS and EVPL.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and other major network equipment manufacturers.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP) are a plus.
  • Knowledge of network security practices and technologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies is a plus.
  • Experience working with remote Technicians on site
