Senior Investment Manager - Asia (Singapore)

Since our entry into the renewables market in 2010, OEGEN has achieved remarkable milestones, becoming a leading investor in onshore wind across mainland Europe, the largest investor in solar power in Europe, and recently venturing into offshore wind projects. Currently, we manage a global portfolio of over £7 billion in renewable energy assets.

Our operational portfolio consists of more than three hundred large-scale energy-generating companies. We take pride in our wind farms, solar power plants, and upcoming projects in energy storage and hydrogen. To support our ambitious growth plans and long-term ownership of energy assets, we are expanding our team.

We've started investing in Asia from 2023 and since the Singapore team has completed significant milestones, currently managing various mandates involving projects in 5 countries, and are further looking to expand our investment base in the region rapidly.

This is a great opportunity for a Senior professional with experience working on deals in solar, wind (onshore & offshore), energy storage and other energy transition asset management to join a fast growing team based out of Singapore.

What you'll do

• Platform & Portfolio Management: Support the Head of Investments (Asia) in running regional investment platforms (specifically focusing on our Philippines and Japan allocations), overseeing business plan KPI management, and managing the operational portfolio.
• Deal Underwriting & Execution: Independently drive deal underwriting, commercial negotiation, and documentation across solar, wind (onshore & offshore), energy storage, and other energy transition assets.
• Strategy & Fundraising: Support the Head of Investments (Asia) on strategic decision-making, mandate expansion, and capital raising for our investment strategies across Asia.
• Origination: Originate, screen, and evaluate new investment opportunities across target Asian markets.
• People Leadership & Mentorship: Serve as a senior leader within the team, mentoring junior colleagues in Singapore and the UK (including working closely with team members dedicated to Philippines and Japan matters).
• Governance & Internal Liaison: Liaise with our HQ team in London on internal investment committee processes, risk management, and governance.
• Market Representation: Represent Octopus Energy Generation at industry conferences and meetings with prospective and existing investors.

What you'll need

• Experience: Private Equity (PE), M&A, or advisory experience in the APAC renewables or infrastructure sectors with reputable institutions.
• People Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring junior team members with strong people management skills.
• Underwriting & Commercial Acumen: Proven capability to independently lead deal underwriting, commercial structuring, documentation, and development/construction risk underwriting processes.
• Technical Skills: Advanced expertise in deal screening, financial modelling, valuation, and business plan KPI management.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of renewable energy and energy transition asset classes (solar, onshore/offshore wind, storage, hydrogen) and regional APAC market dynamics.
• Network: An established deal origination network across Asia.
• Languages: High fluency in English (written and spoken).
• Key Attributes: Entrepreneurial spirit, strong presentation skills, financial acumen, and a collaborative team-player mindset.
