About The Role
Position Overview
The Technical Project Manager (TPM) 2 supports and manages discrete technical construction scope, ensuring the timely completion of all project elements. This role oversees technical requirements; defines and manages project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks; and supports, while at times leading, the project team in planning, tracking, and executing project scope from initiation through turnover.
The TPM 2 manages project activities in alignment with the prime contract, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) , and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 413.3B requirements. Work is organized into control accounts and corresponding work packages that define tasks necessary to meet programmatic objectives.
Reporting to the Manager of Projects (MOP) , the TPM 2 is responsible for the day-to-day administrative and operational management of an assigned project or program area. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and evaluating policies, procedures, and standards related to construction and work execution within a nuclear facility. The role also supports the development and monitoring of program budgets while providing technical guidance to project teams, support departments, and matrixed resources.
All scope supported and managed by the TPM 2 is performed within a DOE Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 1 facility . Therefore, prior nuclear facility and/or laboratory experience is required, with an emphasis on recent and relevant experience supporting security and classification protocols within a Department of Energy (DOE) and/or National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) environment where active decontamination and decommissioning (D&D), construction, testing, and turnover activities were performed under Nuclear Quality Assurance-1 (NQA-1) requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and manage discrete technical construction scope to ensure timely completion of project elements.
- Oversee technical requirements and manage project deliverables, budgets, schedules, and risks.
- Support and, when necessary, lead project teams through planning, tracking, execution, and project turnover.
- Manage project activities in accordance with prime contract requirements, NNSA requirements, and DOE Order 413.3B.
- Organize work into control accounts and work packages to achieve program objectives.
- Provide day-to-day administrative and operational management of assigned projects or program areas.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, procedures, and standards related to construction and work execution.
- Support program budget development and monitoring.
- Provide technical guidance to project teams, support organizations, and matrixed resources.
- Coordinate activities within DOE Hazard Category 2, Security Classification 1 facilities while maintaining compliance with nuclear quality, security, and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Prior nuclear facility and/or laboratory experience.
- Recent and relevant experience with security and classification protocols in a DOE and/or NNSA environment.
- Experience supporting active D&D, construction, testing, and turnover activities under NQA-1 requirements.
- Active DOE Q Clearance .
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and five (5) years of directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior construction experience, particularly supporting work within a nuclear facility.
- Extensive experience working within strict nuclear security and classification environments.
- Experience with work planning and controls.
- Experience coordinating and communicating effectively with representatives from construction, operations, and support organizations, including radiological control, criticality, nuclear safety, and occupational safety.
