About The Role
The Associate Relationship Manager (“ARM”) role is a developmental position designed to bridge the transition from Relationship Management Assistant into a Relationship Manager role. The role includes responsibility for managing a defined portfolio of client relationships, while supporting senior Relationship Managers on broader or higher‑risk relationships. The ARM is expected to deliver a high standard of client service, operate within the Bank’s risk and regulatory framework, and progressively develop the commercial judgement, technical knowledge, and relationship management capability required to move into a full Relationship Manager role over time.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for a defined portfolio of client relationships.
- Deliver consistent, timely, and professional service to portfolio clients.
- Develop a strong understanding of client structures, needs, and objectives.
- Manage day‑to‑day client matters, escalating complexity or issues where appropriate.
- Support Relationship Managers on higher‑complexity relationships and client activity.
- Maintain accurate client records, meeting notes, and action tracking.
- Monitor relationship quality and profitability within the assigned portfolio.
Business Development
- Manage and grow the assigned portfolio in line with agreed objectives.
- Identify opportunities to deepen existing client relationships, including appropriate cross‑selling of the Bank’s products and services.
- Refer more complex structures, opportunities, or risks to Relationship Managers.
- Participate in client meetings, relationship reviews, and calls alongside Senior Relationship Managers where appropriate.
- Represent the Bank professionally in external meetings and networking opportunities, as required.
Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure all client activity is conducted in line with the Bank’s policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Support client onboarding, KYC reviews, periodic reviews, and documentation requirements.
- Exercise sound judgement within delegated authority levels.
- Escalate matters outside authority or complexity thresholds in a timely manner.
- Adhere to ethical sales standards and the Bank’s risk appetite.
- Support the maintenance of effective internal controls and audit standards.
Reporting and Communication
- Assist with preparation of client reports, portfolio reviews, and internal management information.
- Analyse client data to support relationship planning and decision‑making.
- Coordinate effectively with internal teams including Operations, Credit, Compliance, and Legal to ensure smooth client servicing.
- Ensure accurate and timely information flows across teams.
Projects & Development
- Participate in projects and initiatives that support business development, client experience improvements, or process enhancements.
- Support senior Relationship Managers on more complex client matters as part of development toward managing higher‑complexity portfolios.
- Actively seek feedback, training, and development opportunities aligned to progression into a Relationship Manager role.
Experience, Skills & Attributes
- University degree, preferably in business, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in a banking, financial services, or client‑facing support role would be preferred (including Relationship Management Assistant experience).
- Exposure to client relationship management and portfolio support.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Developing commercial awareness and client‑centric mindset.
- Ability to exercise judgement and escalate appropriately.
- Comfortable working collaboratively across functions.
- Demonstrated interest in progressing into a full Relationship Manager role.
