Job Description

Ameriprise has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Owner to join the team. This role will lead the Digital Collaboration experience within the Ameriprise Client Secure Site and play a key role in driving measurable outcomes, including advisor and client adoption of digital collaboration capabilities.

The Senior Product Owner will be responsible for maintaining continuity across the product team and setting the strategic direction for the experience. This individual will partner closely with senior leaders across Digital, Advice, Advisor Tools, and Advisor Technology to align priorities, make informed tradeoff decisions, and deliver solutions that enhance the advisor and client experience.

Key responsibilities include

  • Lead one or more Agile Scrum teams in delivering digital collaboration outcomes that support the broader Client Secure Site strategy. Represent customer and business priorities, define roadmap and backlog priorities, and ensure delivery is aligned to measurable advisor, client, and enterprise outcomes.
  • Serving as the voice of the customer and translating business and user needs into prioritized roadmaps, user stories, and backlog items in partnership with engineering, UX, and cross-functional teams.
  • Drive advisor and client adoption by improving how clients and advisors prepare for meetings, connect through online meeting capabilities, and collaborate between regular interactions. Partner across Digital, Advice, Advisor Tools, Advisor Technology, UX, and engineering to identify opportunities, remove friction, and advance a cohesive digital collaboration experience.
  • Develop and execute a compelling product vision and roadmap focused on measurable business and customer outcomes. Define key performance indicators, monitor progress against goals, and regularly share results with stakeholders and the team.
  • Serve as the primary product partner for business stakeholders, aligning priorities, consulting on strategic needs, and shaping a roadmap that balances customer value, adoption, and enterprise objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen the client-advisor relationship through ongoing assessment of customer needs, adoption trends, and business goals. Adjust product strategy in partnership with leadership as priorities evolve.
  • Manage the annual product budget in partnership with the Product Owner Director to support effective delivery of priority outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of product management or product owner experience, with at least 3 years in an agile, software‑based environment.
  • Proven ability to lead product discovery and strategy, not just delivery.
  • Strong experience translating business strategy and customer insights into clear product direction and roadmaps.
  • Demonstrated success influencing cross‑functional partners (design, engineering, business) without direct authority.
  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative data (analytics, research findings, customer feedback) to inform product decisions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate vision, tradeoffs, and outcomes.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills across multiple initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on digital products within financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Strong partnership experience with UX research and design teams.
  • Background or certification in Agile frameworks (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, Scrum Master).
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to facilitate visioning, discovery, and alignment workshops.
  • Experience with product discovery, road mapping, and backlog tools (e.g., Jira, Productboard, Confluence).

In-Office Collaboration

We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Visa Sponsorship

Applicants must have a valid work authorization that does not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship for employment in the United States (e.g., H-1B, F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, TN).

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $114,500 - $157,400/ year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
