CBC London’s number one rated daily live radio program, London Morning, is looking for a host.
Having served the audience for almost a decade, listeners have repeatedly shown that London Morning is an essential part of their routine. You are excited to surpass audience expectations at a time of day when people are first waking up and keen for information. Whether it’s a winter weather bomb, downtown safety concerns or a diaspora community reacting to political unrest, you know London Morning is a vital part of living in the city.
Your job is clear: You listen deeply, examining all sides of a story, and you hold those in power to account. You connect easily with every guest on the program, be it a politician or a student in high school. You help listeners understand and plan. You might also help them laugh, and boost their playlists with local artists.
You live in London, and so you care about getting to know the people who make the city vibrant and diverse. You make every effort to leave the studio in order to meet people where they’re at, and to bring their stories alive. You’re obsessed with finding issues that don’t come in a news release, and you take pride in seeking out people who don’t know CBC. Nothing makes you happier than hearing directly from the audience about whether a story has hit the mark.
You understand that as the flagship program, the content on London Morning sets the agenda and is the forum for critical conversations. You get that those conversations must reach people beyond the airwaves, including in visual formats. For those reasons, you think innovatively about content creation across platforms. You are a willing leader who will push yourself and your team to adapt to changing audience needs.
You are a smart and seasoned journalist who is competitive by nature. You don’t mind working with a small, high octane team. They care and are as curious as you are. You pitch in to deliver the most live local morning program in the city, upholding the responsibility to deliver on the mission of CBC London: to be there for people in the region, where and when they need us.
