Function
Mechanical Workshop CNC Machinist Miller
Purpose of the Role
To Program, Set & Operate the CNC Mazak controlled 3 and 5 axis milling machines within the Motion Applied Mechanical Workshop
Principal Accountabilities
- To set & operate machinery to produce high quality parts.
- Manage time & workload effectively.
- Inspect own work to a high standard.
- Review and maintain ‘industry best practice’ with other team members.
- Set a good example and support other members with problem solving.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Proven record in CNC machine operation and programming using online machine and offline CAM methods.
- Knowledge of Mazatrol controls (in house training supported on machines) .
- Knowledge of Solid Edge / Fusion 360 software will be an advantage.
- Comprehensive understanding of industry standards and regulations to ensure guidelines are followed and machinery and equipment are operated safely within the BSI 9001 / 14001 Certification.
- Has developed proficiency in a range of relevant processes or procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
- Good time management.
- Great attention to detail to maintain or exceed high levels of production standards and efficiency.
- Ability to fully contribute to the process of continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of working in similar high technology environment.
- Ability to understand and read engineering drawings, / models.
- Highly competent in using a wide range of measuring equipment.
- Apprenticeship or time served background preferred.
