The Opportunity

Salary range: $74,532.00 - $87,460.89

Placement within the range is typically based upon a review of skills, experience, and internal equity.

Hours per week: 36.25

Our Trojans Team Leads play an integral role in the coordination of student centric programming, planning, servicing and delivery as the Athletics & Recreation department strives to create an active, engaging and responsive environment of recreational and competitive pursuits.

To succeed as a department dependent on part-time workers, Athletics & Recreation management relies on the competencies of Team Leads that are responsible for program components and experiential deliverables, as well as the educating and re-educating of employees as required.

Trojans Team Leads handle employee related structure, concerns and demands while contributing to the job ready graduate and experiential learning demands of our SAIT brand promise. Team Leads contribute on the Athletics & Recreation leadership team, drive a Campus Life agenda, build upon a strong history of student activity on the SAIT campus and enhance social engagement objectives in an innovative fashion where all SAIT students can find themselves as part of the #WeAreTrojans brand of programming options.

Sport and activity programming at SAIT is delivered through a collaborative team structure, with responsibilities divided across specialized yet interconnected portfolios based on the experience and expertise of team members. This position is primarily responsible for coordinating and supporting digital content/impact, sport broadcasting/productions and alumni/community engagement initiatives while working closely with colleagues to deliver an exceptional student, spectator, and community experience.

The Role

  • Lead a best in class mindset that maximizes impact of Athletics productions
  • Implement a comprehensive digital productions strategy, including pre-post event digital interactions and promotions.
  • Coordinate the delivery of Trojans sport broadcasts, live event production, and production logistics to ensure high-quality game-day and digital content.
  • Taylor Family Campus Centre Broadcast Studio Stewardship and Operations
  • Oversee procurement, organization, and inventory of Broadcast Studio equipment.
  • Support TB&P Back of House Live Event operations as required.
  • Liaise with internal partners (ie. SADT, RTBN, ITS, capstones) as required.
  • TB&P decision making, including the development of policies, procedures, and best practices that expand the impact of digital productions.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) and Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) production requirements
  • Support sport media management by maintaining brand standards and ensuring consistency across broadcast and digital platforms.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of digital engagement initiatives, video content, promotional campaigns, and social media storytelling to enhance the Trojans brand.
  • Coordinate live streaming operations, broadcast schedules, production workflows, and technical requirements for home events.
  • Monitor broadcast operations, audience engagement, and production outcomes, recommending improvements to enhance quality and efficiency
  • Build positive working relationships with faculty, students, and internal stakeholders to support student learning and operational success.
  • Human Resources & Administration (15%)
  • Supervision & Event Schedule Coordination
  • Support internships, work-integrated learning opportunities, co-curricular experiences, and shared broadcast studio facility use.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, mentor, and supervise the Trojans broadcasting crew, providing ongoing guidance and support within a live event environment
  • Recruitment and scheduling of part-time staff for home games and events
  • Supervise internal student collaborations and internship opportunities.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team environment by addressing concerns promptly and in compliance with SAIT policies, procedures, and workplace standards.
  • Supervise student participants during events, programs, projects, and experiential learning opportunities to ensure a safe, productive, and positive experience.
  • Coordinate student internships, practicum placements, and co-curricular opportunities in collaboration with academic partners and department staff
  • Coordinate supervision with Back of House Production part-time staff as required
  • Supervision, Mentoring and Coaching of part-time Broadcasting staff as required
  • Coordinate supervision of Internship/Practicum/Capstone opportunities as required
  • Coordinate supervision of Game Day part-time staff as required
  • Coordinate supervision of Alumni Events & Sport Program part-time staff as required
  • Troubleshooting quality control and online complaints as required

Administration, Governance and Health & Safety

  • Align programs and initiatives alongside SAIT policies and procedures
  • Align programs and initiatives within Taylor Family Campus Centre operating software
  • Align alumni related sport programs and campus engagement initiatives alongside A&D
  • Align revenue-related sponsorship and advertising activations initiatives alongside A&D and Finance directives
  • Align youth sport initiatives alongside minors on campus directives
  • Align varsity sport hosting efforts alongside respective conference operating codes
  • Align sport programming and sport initiatives alongside Health & Safety directives
  • Make decisions and interventions in accordance with SafeSport and SAIT FIRST principles
  • Explore solutions with a OneSAIT mindset
  • Campus Engagement - Alumni Relations
  • Trojans Athletics Alumni, Activations & Engagement
  • Support SAIT's Alumni & Development department with Trojans specific fundraising initiatives, donor stewardship activities, and alumni engagement efforts.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with alumni, donors, sponsors, and community partners through regular communication and engagement activations
  • Coordinate donor recognition, stewardship activities, communications, and appreciation initiatives.
  • Assist with outreach initiatives that encourage alumni participation, student-athlete mentorship, donor retention, and philanthropic support.
  • Coordinate logistics for fundraising events, alumni activities, networking opportunities, and donor appreciation events.
  • Maintain accurate donor and alumni records, track engagement activities, and prepare reports to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support the successful delivery of alumni engagement, fundraising, and community partnership initiatives.
  • Coordinate alumni & friends specific sport leagues/events/engagement initiatives

Alumni & Friends Sport Initiatives & Trojans Sport Programs

  • Sport programming including Alumni & Friends Leagues and supporting Trojans opportunities as required, within our Team Lead shared support staffing model.
  • Public speaking, strategic storytelling and front of house engagement efforts
  • Trojans sport program hosting support, innovation, and coordination as required
  • Contribute to Trojans sport summer camp/clinics and special events as required.
  • Coordinate and support celebrations, special event collaborations and campus community related efforts/opportunities as required
  • Provide administrative support and an entrepreneurial approach as required
  • Elementary/Secondary school sport camps/clinic administration, collaboration and delivery as required, within our Team Lead shared support staffing model
  • Student activity content creation and outward facing communications as required
  • Community relations and corporate communications support as required
  • Expand TB&P impact via marketing and communications efforts as required.
  • Promotions, production and broadcasting coordination
  • Other administrative support includes website, statistics, storytelling and photography as required

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Diploma in Production, Broadcast, Digital Creation or related field

Experience

  • 2-3 years in a sport, fitness, recreation and/or television/broadcast related role
  • 2-3 years Customer Service
  • 2-3 years in a Supervisory role
